Game Over GBV: Using Esports to Fight Gender-Based Violence

Gaming for Good

The Game Over Gender-Based Violence initiative combined esports competition with digital safety education — proving that gaming can be a powerful tool for social impact.

The Event

Co-organized with Alliance Française Port Harcourt and sponsored by the French Embassy in Nigeria, this event was part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.

  • 120+ youth from schools and universities participated
  • Digital safety workshops taught online protection strategies
  • Esports tournaments brought competitive energy to a serious cause
  • Covered by The Tide newspaper

Why It Matters

Gender-based violence affects millions of women in Africa. By meeting young people where they already are — in gaming — we created a space to have important conversations about safety, respect, and inclusion.

Partners

Thank you to Nexal Gaming, Daimyo Arena, and all the volunteers who made this possible.
